· SSM Breast Care has been awarded several grants totaling more than $280,000 to help increase breast cancer awareness, prevention and treatment for women living in the St. Louis region. In April, the St. Louis Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® presented more than $250,000 to be used for various breast health programs available through SSM St. Mary’s Health Center, SSM St. Clare Health Center, SSM St. Joseph Health Center, SSM St. Joseph Medical Park, SSM St. Joseph Hospital West and SSM St. Joseph Health Center - Wentzville. Additionally, SSM Breast Care was awarded $30,000 from the Karen Weidinger Foundation to support breast health programs in the St. Charles, Mo. area available through SSM St. Joseph Health Center, SSM St. Joseph Health Center- Wentzville, SSM St. Joseph Medical Park and SSM St. Joseph Hospital West.
· Several years of tough economic conditions have presented many challenges for organizations trying to meet fundraising goals. However, Youth In Need’s supporters who attended the 23rd annual Celebration of Youth on March 20 at Ameristar Casino Resort Spa proved to be as generous as ever, raising more than $280,000, through the sale of tickets, sponsorships, auction items and charitable pledges using the Missouri State Tax Credit Program.
· The Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) has selected Dr. Terry Adams, Superintendent of the Wentzville R-IV School District, as its "MOSPRA Administrator of the Year." Each year, MOSPRA presents its annual Awards of Distinction, recognizing individuals who make significant contributions in school public relations throughout the state of Missouri. According to MOSPRA, Dr. Adams was selected because "He works hard at putting the personal in interpersonal communications. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, and other community organizations where he can interact with the public, informing and inspiring. He never misses an opportunity for positive public relations on behalf of the District. The "Administrator of the Year" recipient is a school official who does not hold an official P.R. position, but has still made a significant contribution to school public relations.
